Founded in 1997, CMC Movie Corporation is the subsidiary company of CMC Group.  It is the biggest independent film distributor in Taiwan.  CMC has imported films from many renowned distributors, such as Focus Features, Miramax, I.S. Film, New Line, Lions Gate, etc.  In terms of marketing and distribution, CMC Movie Corporation has collaborated with 20th Century Fox Taiwan, who had a tremendous success last summer with "The Day After Tomorrow."  CMC Movie Corporation's recent success include "Butterfly Effect," "Resident Evil II: Apocalypse" and "The Lord of the Rings" films.  Earlier this year CMC Movie released critically acclaimed and commercially successful "Million Dollar Baby" and "The Aviator."  Both films were winners at the Golden Globes Awards and the Academy Awards.
CMC Movie has been ambitious for Chinese films acquisitions as well.  "The House of Flying Daggers," for example, accumulated nearly NT$100 million in box office islandwide.  It also marked the first movie premiere ever to take place at the National Palace Museum.  This event raised the local audience's awareness of the Chinese films to a new level.
